Description
"Tiger by the Tail" is named after the movie that was filmed in the home and the surrounding areas of Ruidoso in 1970. **Pool fee will be removed/reimbursed during winter months!** Travel back in time as soon as you walk into the front gate of this amazing 2,740 sq. ft., 3 bedroom/ 2.5 bath home! You'll immediately notice the gorgeous open, southwestern style patio that wraps around the front of the home and opens up into a fantastic stone courtyard that houses the private and refreshing lap pool! (This pool was featured a few times in the film.) The entire courtyard is within a privacy fence and dotted with beautiful plants and vegetation native to New Mexico; along with ample seating to relax in. Use the large BBQ grill to cook up a meal for all! Take an early morning dip in the lap pool or enjoy the stars at night in the peaceful courtyard. (The pool is only accessible from May 15th until Oct. 15th and will be locked during the off season.) The Casita with a Queen sized bed, sleeper sofa, full bathroom and it's own AC unit is a separate mother-in-law style room off the main home and has direct access to the courtyard (it is attached to the main home but has it's own entry.) Separating the Casita and the main home is a laundry room with a full sized washer and dryer! Entering the main house, you're welcomed with unique high vaulted ceilings and an open spaced living area full of natural light, a large sofa for relaxing, a large screen television, and a grand view from the many windows throughout the home; this area too has it's own AC unit! The home is beautifully decorated in a modern nautical theme throughout. Have a nice meal in the dining area that seats 8 comfortably which is right next to the kitchen. The large, well equipped kitchen will definitely give that retro vibe with a modern flair! There is a gas stove, separate oven, microwave, refrigerator, pantry, and is well equipped with all the cookware you'll need. Check out the small breakfast nook area with high vaulted ceilings, a table that seats 4 and direct access to the courtyard. Opposite wing of the house are the master suite and guest bedroom. Master suite has a brand new King sized bed, cozy seating area with a gas fireplace, it's own AC split unit. A private patio and backyard with incredible views can be accessed from this room. The backyard leads to a completely fenced in gazebo and dog run for your fur friend(s). The guest bathroom with modern fixtures, an oversized sunken bathtub, unique walk in shower, with a Jack and Jill vanity separates the Master suite and the guest bedroom (both rooms share the bathroom but have lockable doors). In the guest bedroom you'll find a beautiful four-poster Queen sized bed, TV, large walk in closet and private access to the courtyard. The continuation of the nautical theme in the guest room, ties the whole home together. Tiger by the Tail is the ultimate home for rest, relaxation and a little bit of vintage fun! 2 dog max. Plan a day basking in the stillness of our national forest while hiking, biking or fishing, golfing at one of our multiple golf courses or spend a fun night out on the town at one of the area’s local attractions! You'll be happy you took a respite from the concrete jungle. Please read! Our cabins include basic cable or satellite television, basic cooking utensils, propane gas grill (propane provided), washer and dryer (if applicable- please look at the amenities), towels and bed linens for guest use along with heating for winter. Our homes come equipped with either a drip or Keurig coffee maker. *Linens and bath towels *Extra blankets and bedding *Spa towels for properties with spas/hot tubs. While our kitchens are fully equipped with glassware/cookware/utensils/dishes, etc. this does not ensure that all homes will have a blender, crock pot, spices, coffee, or condiments. Please call ahead to confirm if items such as these are available. If not, we ask that you bring your own. Basic toiletries in the Master bathroom only are: *One (1) travel sized each of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, disposable toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, and facial bar soap, *three (3) rolls of toilet paper; one (1) on holder and two (2) stored in bathroom. Basic toiletries in all additional bathrooms (if applicable) are: *three (3) rolls of toilet paper; one (1) on holder and two (2) stored in bathroom, *one (1) travel sized bar soap and/or facial soap, *one (1) hairdryer in the home. Basic supplies in the home: *five (5) All-Clear laundry pods, *dish detergent in pod or liquid form (quantities may vary and/or be limited) and three (3) Lemi Shine rinse agent in single use cups (for homes with dishwashers), *liquid dish soap in (at minimum) a partial container (may only be in homes without dishwashers- check amenities to ensure the home you booked has a dishwasher), *two to three (2-3) rolls of paper towels, *two (2) trash liners in each waste basket; one (1) prepared in basket and at least one (1) in the bottom or under sink. We encourage guests to please be mindful of the supplies we provide and always bring extras as housekeeping does not deliver more than what is required to be left in the homes. We highly encourage guests to be prepared with access to chains and/or 4-wheel drive in winter months. Firewood is not provided for homes with wood burning fireplaces.

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend in the mountains to escape the heat. The house is very private on acreage and feels isolated but is in Ruidoso. We loved watching the lightening storms from the back patio as well as the endless stars and milky way. There is plenty of room to spread out, and the kitchen had everything we needed.

The layout of this home made it very easy for us to be together and meet all of those requirements. Additionally, the home is located in a very quiet neighborhood that is close to stores and restaurants. We got a kick out of the fact Charo's first movie, Tiger by the Tail, filmed some scenes at this house. So much so that we rented the movie and left a copy there for others to enjoy. We all got a big kick out of it. The private pool was the icing on the cake, or maybe the views... tough to pick one thing. I am sure we will be back. Thanks for having us!

Though the weather was frightful, we (two couples) had a lovely stay at Tiger by the Tail over President's Day weekend. The home is brilliantly maintained and equipped, the appliances, lighting and TVs were easy to use and the views were absolutely breathtaking. We've been coming to Ruidoso for years, and the nautical design of this property makes it such a unique and treasured experience. We can't wait to come back when the weather warms a bit so we can take fuller advantage of the pool and courtyard.
By Teri, Posted: 12/28/2022Our stay included 4 teenagers and two adults. It was nice for the adults to stay in the casita and have that privacy. The casita is attached to the main house but has it's own separate entrance. The only disadvantage is that the heat to the casita is controlled by the main house so we were very warm every night, while the main house was comfortable. The shower in the casita is very small - I am 5”6 130lbs and it was barely big enough for me. The main house is great with massive closets, comfortable beds, walk-in shower, and large tub. There were three gray foxes that visited us every night that would watch us from the living room window. We used the fridge, the stove and the microwave and they all worked well. The large pots might need replacing but there were so many pots and pans it didn't matter. We did not use the pool. We loved the remote lighting. The neighborhood was good. We enjoyed our stay.

We made so many memories here! Swimming, enjoying the views, having coffee and wine on the gorgeous patios taking in the amazing view. The kids enjoyed a game of hide a seek too! Thank you!
By Mary Jo, Posted: 08/31/2022Would surely recommend this cabin. One of a kind, fabulous house.Floor to ceiling windows on both sides of house.Gorgeous views. House felt like we were in the Hollywood Hills. The beautiful blue heated lap pool was a hit. We were a party of 7 and 4 of us were enjoying the pool day and night. Would stay again.
