Welcome to Doc’s Place – A Tribute to an Amazing Veterinarian
Doc’s Place is more than just a cabin; it’s a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Dr. Baker, an extraordinary equestrian veterinarian, and his love for Ruidoso. Dr. Baker and his wife purchased this charming retreat with dreams of one day retiring in this beautiful mountain town. Before his passing, the Baker family created many cherished memories here, spending countless holidays in this peaceful haven.
Dr. Baker was renowned for his dedication to his work and his clients. He loved helping equestrian families and was widely respected as one of the best in his field. He and his wife also shared a deep passion for racehorses and the Ruidoso Downs Race Track, making this location even more special to them.
In addition to their love for horses, Dr. Baker’s wife, children, and grandchildren are avid golfers who spent many hours enjoying the local courses. Golf was one of their favorite family activities, and they often found time to tee off together amidst the stunning mountain views.
Today, as a family, we want to share that same love of the area and the special memories we've built here. We hope you’ll enjoy this little retreat as much as we do. Whether you're here to relax, explore the nearby mountains, play a round of golf, or take in the excitement of the track, we believe you’ll feel right at home at Doc’s Place.
Ruidoso, Alto, and surrounding areas: Submerse yourself within the towering pines of Lincoln County and watch local wildlife such as elk, deer, wild horses, turkey, birds, and more in their natural habitats. Plan a day basking in the stillness of our national forest while hiking, biking, or fishing, golfing at one of our multiple golf courses or spend a fun night out on the town at one of the area’s local attractions! Be sure to swim or fish at the beautiful Grindstone or Alto Lake, delight your senses at Winter Park with roller coaster and tubing, and explore the ski slopes and hiking trails throughout Ski Apache. Win big at one of our three local casinos and enjoy the excitement of live quarter horse racing at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. Be happy you took a respite from the concrete jungle. Come relax and refresh with us!
